From Matt Ernst:
Well folks, the ball is rolling again. We got together last night for an evening of poetry. Maybe we didn’t slam, and maybe I wasn’t entirely prepared, but it happened, and no one was injured. A complete success, in that case.
Hats off to Jeff Kass for sending some of his students our way. If I had his email address, I’d thank him more personally. (I know! What’s wrong with me?)
In any event, thanks to everyone who came out, most especially Deb and Steve Marsh. (And yes, Deb, thanks for the AAPS “box”/albatross.)
Seriously, next week it’ll be even better. I was talking to some really smart people after the show and they helped me come to the conclusion that the Heidelberg’s diningroom might be the best room for the Slam. I know, it sounds nuts (you can’t even smoke cigarettes in there), but there’s still a bar, a snazzy atmosphere, nice acoustics, and peace and quiet (aside, of course, from your poems). We’ll try that out next week.
If anyone has suggestions for a future feature, let me know. I’d like to start having those so that we can actually charge the 3$. (If you can’t think of anyone, suggest yourself.)
I hope to see many of you next Monday, in H-berg’s diningroom, at 8pm — doors open at five if you need to get good and swacked first.
Oh, and if you’re silly enough to not want to receive these notes anymore, drop me a line and I’ll remove you. On the other hand, if you know people who might want to be added, let me know about that, too.
Peace…
–Matt Ernst
