June 3 Slam – Featuring Cassie Poe!

The finals were pretty sweet. High gas prices seemed to keep some folks away, but the head-to-head match between Mike Moriarty and Matt Ernst made the people who did show up glad of it. Mike Moriarty took the title of Ann Arbor Poetry Slam champion when the battle of the beards was over.
We have a fantastic feature this Tuesday, Cassie Poe! Her bio from poetryslam.com

Cassie Poe is a Detroit artist and mom. Her first love was fiction writing until she met poetry in 99′ and started a lurid affair. This hot and steamy involvement led to an illicit relationship with Slam that is still ongoing. Currently, she serves as the mistress/Slammaster for the Detroit Byte This Slam, and was just elected to the Executive Council or Poetry Slam, Inc. Her other passions include interior decorating and landscaping though she loves small animals and longs for world peace.
Tuesday night the start again of our regular season of Slams. Sign-up is first-come, first served, so get there early!
Coming in July – Tom Noy from Cleveland!
It’s that time again, poetry fans. The Ann Arbor Poetry Slam is Tuesday night. It’s the finals! The poets who were in the semi-finals last month advance to this final round to decide who is the top slam poet in Ann Arbor. Don’t miss it!
Coming in June: Cassie Poe!
First, for those of you who came out to support Karyna and all the poets at the Women of the World Poetry Slam in Detroit last month, thank you. It was a fantastic night of poetry, even though Karyna didn’t take first.
We have a big night of poetry on April 1, it’s no joke. Our annual semi-finals mark the end of the qualifying season. If you took first or second in any of our slams since last June, you are qualified to compete. The top 6 poets will move on to the finals in May, to decide who will represent Ann Arbor at the National Poetry Slam in Madison this August.
Good Luck, and see you tomorrow night!
